Reunion

There have been many Reunions in the past 25+ years.

Some Reunions are your very first contact with a single person from your Lancer Days.

Some Reunions are sizable well orchestrated events where you regain contact with a bunch of your old mates.

Some Reunions are real big affairs as was the All Class Bash in Dallas, 1995 when @600 Lancers descended upon the Hilton DFW Executive Hotel and partied real hard.

Some Reunions are just voices on the phone & Emails on the internet.

Some Reunions are just observing pictures of those we once knew.

  A gathering of the members of a group who have been separated: a high school reunion.

A Reunion requires a lot of work and usually a lot of Up-Front monies & hotel room occupancy minimums. For those who do not wish to jump into a fire, then a Regional Gathering will do.  A Regional Gathering is easy and requires very little planning or expense. For example if you live in an area with a fair sprinkling of Lancers, then invite all of them to a Saturday picnic, Barbeque, or a luncheon. Now some may not be in your particular class range, but you still have much in common and the comradery would still be there. And there is no reason why you should not make new Lancer friends. You would not have the overhead normally found in a formal reunion, just a fun Gathering of the local clan for minimal expense & effort. In most cases, Bring Your Own Everything would be the rule of the day. Most of us are willing to drive for an hour or two to go to something fun.

So, if you are itching for some Lancer contact, have a Gathering. You will be glad you did! So will all who shared your day with you!

Gathering

Its time once again for the annual Regional Gathering of Lancers Picnic and Fun Feed. We will be gathering at Wickham Park in Melbourne, Florida on the 25th of April. We will have a tent or two and adequate coolers with plenty of ice. All you need to bring is enough food & drink for you and a few others, lawn chairs and Sunscreen is recommended too.

We are setting up camp at the entrance to the park, free from the crowds that will be there for the All Veterans Reunion. This event is the largest of its kind in America attracting over 100,000 visitors during the week long schedule. The Portable Vietnam Wall, a very emotional Obelisk to those years will be there too.

This year we have Lancers arriving Friday the 25nth from the outlying Manors. I guess this will necessitate a meeting someplace for food & hilarity. We will put that together just prior.

We are looking to having dinner Saturday evening at a very noisy Irish Pub, Meg O’Malley’s in Olde Town Melbourne.

For those who may be staying over Saturday, then we are off to Breakfast Sunday morning. Location TBA

There are many fine & inexpensive Hotels in the area and if you are thinking of Gathering with us, then I suggest getting your reservations in early.
