The Rolling Stones attracted 250,000 fans to Hyde Park - during the show they paid tribute to band member Brian Jones who had just recently drowned. Other British shows included the Isle of White festival headlined by Bob Dylan, and The National Jazz & Blues Festival featuring The Who, Yes and King Crimson.           All this in 1968.
In 1969, The Beatles made their last public appearance on the roof of the Apple building singing "Get Back". Soon after, they had the top two US albums again; The Beatles and Yellow Submarine.
The first American artist to appear on the new pop TV show
Thank Your Lucky Stars was Gene Vincent. This show, more than any other, would spread the Merseybeat sound.
